Earlier this week the Prime Minister announced that from 4th July places of worship can re-open for prayer and services. This is good news! This is a follow -up to churches opening for private prayer. Both our churches have put in place all the measures needed to ensure that the rate of virus transmission is minimised, including effective hand sanitisation, social-distancing and cleaning.
Our thanks to the working party who prepared our two churches and the stewards at the door to welcome us and advise us as we come to pray. New guidelines about the arrangements for Mass and public worship have come from the Diocese. Fulfilling these requirements is a pre-condition for any church opening after 4th July for the celebration of Mass with a congregation. The obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains suspended. There will be a limited number who can attend Mass once the new arrangements have been put in place. We will continue to live-stream Masses and are now sourcing the appropriate cameras and sound system to ensure that long-term we can continue to stream Mass and services. Next Sunday we hope to give you a further update on our progress and possibilities as to when and where we can have Mass together. Our intention is to move slowly and to ensure that we take every appropriate precaution.
