During the lockdown many people risked their lives to meet the challenges posed by the coronavirus. The NHS, healthcare workers and key workers all responded with extraordinary generosity and courage: we owe all these good people a debt of gratitude.

Today Jesus prepares His Disciples to proclaim His message and to make Him known through all the world. Three times Jesus tells them ‘Do not be afraid’. Fear no-one, speak with courage and trust in God the Father, whose care far exceeds His care of hundreds of sparrows.

These days we feel unsure and fearful of the deadly threat of Covid-19. This is very real for us, it is easy to lose heart. We need to hold on to the hand of the Lord; nothing can separate us from the tremendous love of God for each one of us. We are loved beyond measure, created out of love. God will not abandon us in these difficult and testing days.
