Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday. It is a period of 40 days, a time of renewal, a time to enter into the Passion, Suffering, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a period of fasting, praying, and almsgiving, when we root out all that is evil in our lives. We prepare for The Great Feast of Easter when we celebrate our central belief that God raised Jesus to new life after his death on the cross.
