We now enter the great celebrations of Holy Week. Today we live out the dramatic entry of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem for the Passover. Jesus is presented as the Messiah-King entering and taking possession of His city. We begin with a procession carrying palms to celebrate His victory. Then the mood changes when we sit and listen to the proclamation of ‘The Passion’ when we hear of His passion and death which will be the main focus of our Good Friday celebration.
Today’s liturgy is much more than a historic re-enactment, in taking part WE TOO BECOME PRESENT TO IT. So let us be open and alert to all the characters, symbols, signs and the story of this celebration and enter into it with a full heart as we begin the Passover of Jesus Christ.
