Roman Catholic Parish of St James and St William of York Reading
Making a bequest to the parish
Click here to download a leaflet which gives some guidance on a form of words that can be used to ensure that your bequest is used for the benefit of St James & St William of York.
It answers the following questions:
• Why should you make a Will at all?
• Why should you consider including this parish in your Will?
• How to make a bequest to benefit this parish.
The church contributes to various other charity efforts across the local area and diocese.
2013 – 2014 Charities and Fundraising highlights
With the recent refurbishment of St James Church the parish has been engaged in serious fundraising since September 2012. Major works have been carried out around the exterior and interior of the church including new artwork for the Lady Chapel and in the area around the statue of St James. This was in preparation to commemorate the 175th Anniversary of the Laying of the Foundation Stone celebrated on 14th December 2012. It also coincides with The Year of Faith.
For many years the parish has raised funds for an overseas charity and another in the local area. The two charities we are supporting now are Mongu, Western Zambia and Reading MENCAP.
Taxpayers who contribute regularly, either by bank standing order or in cash by planned-giving envelopes, are invited to sign a gift-aid declaration whereby the parish can claim back from the Inland Revenue the tax paid on the amount given (currently 25 pence for every £1 given).
